About Us

St. John Mary Vianney Church is celebrating our 51st year of "Being a Light for All People" on Finn Hill.  In October of 1971, Fr. Edward Hogan created an on-site parish for seminarian training at St. Thomas Seminary.  450 families were assigned from neighboring parishes to create SJV. It has been the goal of our church to be a place and a "light" for all people in this area. Pursuing that goal, our church has very active outreach supporting a St. Vincent de Paul chapter, Esperanza Mission Treks for three separate age-levels, migrant outreach in the Mount Vernon area, pregnant women, and the homeless through Tent City IV, sandwich making, and "blessing bags." We are currently tackling racial inequity as part of our parish and outreach education program.  Our grounds are host to a Washington State experimental gardening program. We welcome members of other faiths to use our facilities and  open our doors to our neighbors.  We encourage and welcome the community to walk in our gardens and enjoy the prayer and resting spaces sprinkled throughout the campus.
